Foot & Ankle Surgery

Podiatric surgery is performed by highly qualified podiatric foot and ankle surgeons trained to deal with problems of the foot, ankle or lower leg. Foot and ankle problems may arise from birth abnormalities, hereditary diseases, trauma, arthritis, physical stress, improper shoes, muscle and joint imbalances, or hard surfaces when walking and exercising.

Why Surgery?

Conservative treatment of many foot and ankle problems often produce temporary relief of pain. If pain persists, surgery is sometimes the more definitive answer to a chronic problem and is often the best way to prevent more serious conditions. On the other hand, surgery is not always the best approach for all patients. Dr. Hanawalt will discuss whether surgery is the best treatment option.

Typical foot and ankle surgery does not require hospitalization and will typically be performed in office or an outpatient setting.
